Job Summary : This role focuses on managing and delivering occupational health and safety programs, training, and compliance to ensure employee safety and regulatory adherence in a maintenance and engineering environment. The position emphasizes hands-on training, program management, collaboration, and continuous improvement of safety standards.

Develop and deliver in-person classroom training to maintenance and engineering staff on OSHA and ADOSH topics including Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Walking and Working Surfaces, Electrical Safety, Asbestos and Lead Hazard Awareness, Personal Protective Equipment, Hazard Communication, Motor Vehicle Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens, Compressed Gases, Hand and Power Tools, Powered Industrial Vehicles, and Noise Protection. Approximately 65% of work time will be spent delivering content in a classroom environment.Manage OSHA-mandated medical surveillance and respiratory protection programs to safeguard employee health in hazardous work environments. This includes identifying job roles and tasks that require medical monitoring under OSHA standards, coordinating baseline and periodic medical evaluations, ensuring proper documentation, and facilitating follow-up care when necessary.Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive Respiratory Protection Program, including hazard assessments, respirator selection, fit testing, medical evaluations, and training on use, maintenance, and limitations.Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to analyze learning needs that optimize employee learning outcomes.Conduct training needs assessments for all employees at the Grand Canyon south rim, and document required health, safety, and environmental training by employees and position.Document required health, safety and environmental training by department and position.Facilitate / organize skills training for the engineering department with topics including historic preservation and skills, current construction code, hazardous materials handling, and new techniques and technologies.Collaborate with L&D property and corporate department e-learning platforms.Schedule required training classes and track employee participation through Xanterras Learning Management System, L3; facilitate Sustainability training; ensure immunizations are offered for selected positions or trades.Participate in weekly safety meetings and present an engineering training topic to raise safety awareness and minimize unsafe practices, injuries, and property damage.Conduct Day 2 Safety orientation for all employees and Engineering Department-specific orientation for new engineering personnel, including uniform, attendance, work and safety policies and procedures.Assist Property Leadership with identifying root causes and providing retraining recommendations; maintain current certifications; develop, implement, and monitor safety protocols and standards; promote a culture of safety aligned with Xanterra directives.Work with the EHS Manager to keep Safety Programs updated by law and support quarterly safety audits.Champion key training initiatives and develop programs to adopt new technologies and processes; perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Education & Certification
Bachelors degree in occupational health, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent credentials.OSHA 30-hour and 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.Experience
5+ years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, or facilities maintenance environments.Experience conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.Proven track record of developing and implementing safety programs and training.Technical Skills
Proficiency in safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).Familiarity with environmental regulations (EPA, DOT) and workplace ergonomics.Strong data analysis skills for tracking safety metrics and trends.Experience with safety software tools (e.g., EHS management platforms).Soft Skills
Excellent communication and training skills for diverse teams.Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.Ability to influence and lead safety culture initiatives across departments.Other Assets
Experience working in remote or high-risk environments (e.g., national parks, construction sites).Knowledge of emergency response planning and crisis management.Physical Requirements :
