About The Role
The Staff Geotechnical Engineer will support project managers and senior engineers across a variety of geotechnical, construction, and geo-environmental projects. This position blends technical fieldwork with analytical problem-solving and reporting. You'll gain experience with drilling operations, construction materials testing, AutoCAD drafting, and geotechnical evaluations—while developing foundational skills that set the stage for long-term growth.
Locations : Bartow OR Clearwater
Key Responsibilities
Perform field and laboratory testing of soil, rock, and water samples.Monitor and coordinate geotechnical drilling activities, including utility clearances, site access, and traffic control.Prepare detailed boring logs, field reports, and documentation.Assist with AutoCAD drafting, lab analysis, and geotechnical design support.Contribute to technical reports including foundation recommendations, bearing capacity analysis, settlement modeling, and retaining wall evaluations.Support proposal writing and marketing initiatives.Work on a wide range of civil infrastructure projects—every day is different.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required. (Master's in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.)EI / EIT certification preferred or willingness to obtain.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD experience is a plus.Self-starter with attention to detail, organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset.No prior experience required—just a positive attitude and willingness to learn.Physical & Field Requirements
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.Ability to stand or walk for long periods and perform physical tasks (e.g., kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs).Must be willing to travel for fieldwork and stay overnight when required.Clean driving record preferred (company vehicle use may be required).Madrid CFTL is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
