Overview
Our client is seeking a
Vice President of Engineering
to lead large-scale product and platform engineering organizations driving next-generation AI, cloud, and data infrastructure systems.
This leader will own the technical strategy, architecture, and execution that enable billions of daily transactions, powering mission-critical workloads for enterprise and consumer ecosystems worldwide.
The ideal candidate is both a
hands-on technologist and strategic executive , capable of scaling distributed systems, mentoring exceptional engineering leaders, and delivering world‑class reliability and innovation at global scale.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Strategy and Vision
Define and execute a
multi-year technology strategy
that aligns engineering investments with company vision across AI, data, and infrastructure domains.
Partner with Product and Design to translate product vision into technical roadmaps and scalable execution frameworks.
Establish and communicate a clear technical architecture that supports both short‑term velocity and long‑term platform evolution.
Evaluate emerging technologies, open‑source innovations, and architectural shifts (e.g., GenAI, distributed computing, edge, privacy‑preserving ML) to maintain competitive advantage.
Organizational Leadership
Build and lead a
world‑class engineering organization
of 300+ engineers, spanning backend, frontend, ML, and infrastructure teams.
Develop strong engineering leaders and foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and excellence.
Define and implement robust
engineering operating mechanisms
— release management, quality assurance, reliability practices, and continuous improvement loops.
Drive alignment across global offices, ensuring seamless collaboration across time zones and disciplines.
Execution and Delivery
Oversee the
end‑to‑end product development lifecycle
— from concept to architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment.
Build scalable systems that meet the highest standards of performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
Implement world‑class DevOps practices, CI / CD automation, and observability pipelines to accelerate release cycles.
Partner with Infrastructure and SRE teams to achieve five‑nines availability targets and world‑class latency and throughput performance.
Manage vendor and technology partnerships to ensure cost‑effective and future‑ready engineering stacks.
Technical Excellence and Innovation
Champion engineering excellence through technical design reviews, code quality standards, and architecture councils.
Drive adoption of
AI‑assisted development tools, ML infrastructure, and automation frameworks
to boost developer productivity.
Encourage experimentation and rapid prototyping while maintaining discipline around scalability and compliance.
Contribute to open‑source initiatives, academic collaborations, and industry thought leadership in AI and infrastructure engineering.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure technical priorities align with business outcomes.
Translate engineering metrics and milestones into clear business impact for executive stakeholders.
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to the CEO, CTO, and Board, bringing clarity to complex architectural and scaling decisions.
Align technical roadmaps with GTM and revenue strategies to maximize platform leverage and market expansion.
Qualifications
15+ years of engineering experience, including at least 7 years in executive or senior leadership roles overseeing large, distributed teams.
Proven record of
building and scaling complex, high‑performance systems
used by millions globally.
Deep expertise in one or more domains :
cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, machine learning, or large‑scale data platforms.
Advanced understanding of architectural design patterns, reliability engineering, and platform scalability.
Hands‑on technical credibility — able to dive deep with architects and engineers while maintaining strategic altitude.
Demonstrated success building engineering culture, mentoring senior leaders, and driving operational excellence.
Experience in regulated, privacy‑conscious, or enterprise‑grade environments preferred.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
