- Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on property tax matters, including assessments, exemptions, and appeals.
- Represent clients in negotiations with tax authorities regarding property valuations and tax liabilities.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies.
- Draft legal documents, including petitions, briefs, and correspondence related to property tax issues.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and develop tailored legal strategies.
- Stay updated on changes in property tax laws and regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
- Assist clients with related areas of law such as estate planning, landlord-tenant law, environmental law, and family law when applicable.
- Engage in litigation processes when disputes cannot be resolved through negotiation.
- Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in New Jersey.
- Proven experience in property tax law
- Excellent research skills with proficiency in legal research databases like LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear and persuasive legal documents.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple cases efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
