Job description

LSF is seeking a talented Youth Mentor Lead who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Purpose and Impact :

This is an intermediary position with the responsibility of insuring quality care. The individual holding this position monitors daily activities and provides additional support to Youth Mentors.  Duties also include informing the House Coordinator of programmatic issues on a daily basis.  This is a direct service delivery position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Monitors daily activities of Youth Mentors in their essential functions.
  • Carries a telephone on a rotation basis.
  • Both detect and envision potential safety and security hazards to youth in residence, subsequently making recommendations and implementing corrective actions as appropriate or required.
  • As directed, participates in the implementation and monitoring of client case plans.
  • Assists with day-to-day maintenance of the facility in conjunction with the House Coordinator.
  • Assists with ensuring 24-hour direct care staff coverage in conjunction with the Shelter Services Manager.
  • Screens clients, conducts initial intakes, and administer client satisfaction surveys as directed.
  • Coordinates and assists with youth intakes and orientation during Intake process.
  • Participates in the training of Youth Mentors.
  • Maintains monthly statistical reports in coordination with the House Coordinator.
  • Supervises youth as needed.
  • Supervises and schedules maintenance and upkeep of the group home van.
  • Performs related work as required and as directed by the House Coordinator.
  • Provide direct supervision of Youth Mentor staff and emergency house coverage as needed in emergencies.

OTHER FUNCTIONS :

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Must have a high level of energy. Must have full physical capabilities such as lifting, bending, cooking, cleaning, and using the telephone.  Ability to transport youth in the shelter van and accompany youth on field trips / recreational outings.
  • Must have a high level of energy and be able to work long hours.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and Insurance
  • EDUCATION :

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required, Associates Degree Preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • Two years experience working with youth in an organized / structured setting preferred or at the discretion of Supervisor / Manager.
  • SKILLS :

  • Must have good organization, written, and verbal skills. Dependability, discretion, and good judgement are essential. Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, and the general public.
  • Other :

  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Reports to House Coordinator.
  • Detects and envisions safety and security hazards.
  • Team player with co-workers and administrators.
  • Ensures the maintenance of the house.
  • Effective staff management and leadership.
  • Adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
  • Attend all required training.
