Job Description

LEARN, Southeastern Connecticut's Regional Educational Service Center, is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and student-centered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our school team at Ocean Avenue LEARNing Academy. The nurse will support students with complex medical and developmental needs in a school setting. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the LPN will provide direct daily care, assist with treatments, and help ensure the overall health and safety of students throughout the school day.

Day To Day

  • Provide direct nursing care to students under the supervision and direction of the school’s RN.
  • Administer prescribed medications, tube feedings, and treatments as outlined in individualized health care plans (IHCPs).
  • Monitor student health status and promptly report changes to the supervising RN.
  • Respond to health emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining health records and documentation in compliance with district and state regulations.
  • Support students with activities of daily living (ADLs) as required.
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and the supervising RN to promote student well-being.
  • Qualifications

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Connecticut.
  • Pediatric, school, or special needs nursing experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow nursing care plans and communicate effectively with the supervising RN.
  • CPR (required; training provided if needed).
  • Compassion, patience, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Salary Range

  • $25.26 to $45.27 per hour
