THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated and skilled Corrections Maintenance Foreman to join our team at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. In this pivotal role, you will oversee inmate work crews as they perform a variety of essential tasks, including maintenance, repairs, construction, groundskeeping, and janitorial duties throughout our facility. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will supervise inmate work crews as they undertake routine assignments such as lawn care, snow removal, janitorial duties, and general maintenance. Duties involve planning and assigning daily schedules, as well as reviewing completed work to ensure quality. You will offer guidance on the operation and preventative maintenance of machinery and vehicles. Additionally, you will collaborate with or support maintenance staff across various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical work, refrigeration, masonry, and other specialized areas. Managing and overseeing the distribution and monitoring of tools and materials for work assignments will also be a key part of your responsibilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 7 : 30 AM to 3 : 30 PM, Monday - Friday.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Telework : You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary : Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements :

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required .

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements :

You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
