Role description :

Arcadis is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector to join our Construction Management Team in Plantation Florida! Project work may include pump stations transmission lines and control systems for water / wastewater infrastructure.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Inspector with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection construction field management QA / QC and report documentation on various construction and / or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment power generation manufacturing facilities or other heavy construction projects. Inspector will report to Resident Engineer and / or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Role accountabilities :

The Construction Inspector will observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors perform punch list inspections review drawings and specifications and other technical documents prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports and participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews. The inspector will also be responsible to prepare agendas and minutes as well as be in charge of the bi-weekly progress meetings.

Other responsibilities include :

• Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues.
• Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections.
• Review submittals and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions.
• Attend and participate in construction meetings safety meetings / updates and project site coordination meetings.
• Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor materials and equipment) for field changes and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
• Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes.
• Maintain Payment Quantity documentation.
• Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities.
• While performing daily inspections inspector will be required to ensure Arcadis project safety guidelines are being met.
• Travel will be required to project site visits client meetings safety audits construction oversight etc.

Qualifications & Experience :

Required Qualifications

8 years of mechanical / civil / utility construction inspection experience.

Key Skills / Attributes

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to identify and analyze problems and provide innovative solutions. The candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and possess strong time management skills. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required particularly with MS Excel MS Word MS SharePoint and Outlook. This position also requires the employee to work year-round in a variety of weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have more than 10 years of experience in civil or utility construction inspection. It is ideal they have a background in civil mechanical electrical and SCADA systems as well as experience with construction inspection activities on projects ranging from small to large-scale infrastructure. Possession of NASSCO ITCP or PACP certification is highly desirable as is ACI or NICET certification. Candidates should have completed OSHA 30 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training or be able to obtain this within 30 days of hire. A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred. Active participation in a regional or national professional association is also encouraged. Additionally bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience education budget internal equity project and location.
