Purchasing Agent - HVAC / Plumbing

Position Overview

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring goods and services essential for the organization's operations, focusing on cost efficiency and quality. This role involves evaluating suppliers, managing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of materials while maintaining compliance with budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
  • Manage the purchasing process, including creating and processing purchase orders.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with project managers to understand material needs and project timelines.
  • Monitor inventory levels and re-order supplies as necessary to prevent shortages.
  • Review and approve submittals from suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and sourcing opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory in the system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar procurement role.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing processes and systems, particularly in the HVAC and plumbing industries.
  • Familiarity with construction project requirements and materials.
  • Proficient in using purchasing and inventory management software, preferably Viewpoint.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and budgeting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
