As a UW employee, you have a unique opportunity to change lives on our campuses, in our state and around the world. UW employees offer their boundless energy, creative problem-solving skills, and dedication to build stronger minds and a healthier world. UW faculty and staff also enjoy outstanding benefits, professional growth opportunities, and unique resources in an environment noted for diversity, intellectual excitement, artistic pursuits, and natural beauty. The Division for Healthcare Simulation Sciences (HCSS) - Academic Programs, has an exciting opportunity for an Academic Services Assistant Director as part of the UW School of Medicine's Department of Surgery. Healthcare simulation is a relatively new field of education combining engineering, technology, medical science, art, theatre, psychology, and human behavior to improve patient outcomes through high-quality training. HCSS Academic Programs supports the advancement and development of the field through simulation-based fellowship and graduate study offerings, including the Pellegrini-Oelschlager Endowed Fellowship in Simulation and a first-of-its-kind Master of Science in Healthcare Simulation Education degree program. We are seeking an individual who will bring their creativity, flexibility, problem-solving abilities, and enthusiasm to advancing HCSS Academic Programs through the development and management of these novel offerings.

POSITION PURPOSE

The position will provide leadership and oversight in the development and operationalization of key programmatic workflows, including outreach and recruitment, program communications, student, fellow & faculty support, as well as high-profile event planning and management. The position works in support of HCSS Academic Programs and the greater Division of Healthcare Simulation Science to execute key initiatives relating to its educational mission, of advancing the health of the public through simulation science. Success in this position will necessitate the ability to navigate and manage multiple academic initiatives simultaneously, with precision and efficiency. A large part of this role will require the ability to form relationships both internally and with prospective candidates. The position will act independently within the scope of their position, while maintaining communication and awareness of how their work interplays with other programs within the Division of Healthcare Simulation Science. The position reports to the Faculty Director of HCSS Academic Programs with matrixed reporting to the Chief of the Division of Healthcare Simulation Science (HCSS). The position will work closely with Division Leadership, including the Associate Directors for Educational Programs & Operational Development (DEPOD) and Resource Management & Compliance (RMC), Academic Program Faculty, Course Directors, and others within the Division to maintain collaborative efforts and advance the mission of the Division.
