Mount Sinai South Nassau provides a salary range in good faith determination of potential compensation to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range listed does not include bonuses / incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Position Summary
Summary :
The IT Security Engineer is accountable for the management of complex security systems, integration of those systems into myriad operational products and infrastructure. The IT Security Engineer is also accountable for correctly identifying security vulnerabilities, then designing and executing on remediation plans involving the acquisition, design, test, integration, and implementation of advanced security tools. He / She assists vendors and operational teams in the appropriate application of security best practices and the use of advanced security technologies. He / she is internally recognized as highly competent in security areas, and will review and participate in benchmarking, installation, upgrade, configuration, deployment and testing activity.

- Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in one or more of the following areas; data communications, computer hardware and / or software support, network administration and management, or data communication equipment installation and maintenance.
Experience And Skills
Speaks, reads and writes EnglishSeven years' experience in security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications and network protocols, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.Strong background (5+ years) in Microsoft OS, and other hardware / software, including tuning, implementation, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, system management, risk mitigation, and in documenting best practices.Proven ability to analyze risk, identify threats, mitigate risk and protect against existing and advanced persistent threats.At least 5 years of experience working in a security role for a major company, healthcare, payer, financial company or hospital system.Ability to work on-call as needed to assist in resolving critical issues.A goal oriented person that thrives in a culture of accountability.Proficient in at least one primary scripting language (powershell, bash, perl, etc.).Basic Firewall rule and policy administration knowledge.Basic network routing knowledge.Requires excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with client, IT management and staff, vendors and consultants.License / Certifications
Current CISSP strongly preferred.Working Conditions
