Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES :

Supervisory-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities :

Position Specific Performance Expectations :

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources
  • Requires prioritization and critical thinking skills, a decisive judgement, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
  • Comply with triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation guidelines
  • Uses evidence-based practices and competence to collaborate with the healthcare team to provide quality outcomes and coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual / psychosocial support needs
  • Identifies barriers to effective communication based on psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural considerations
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and / or family and provides patient / family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel, may precept student nurses and new hires
  • Practice according to professional and ethical standards as noted in the ANA Code of Ethics and Colorado State Nurse Practice Act
  • Demonstrates caring attitudes and behaviors to develop therapeutic relationships and engage in patient and family teaching as appropriate
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Organization-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities :

  • Demonstrates commitment to performing according to the CHOICE values of MRH and representing the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Upholds regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Follows all policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff.
  • Completes annual education, training, in-service, and licensure / certification requirements; attends departmental and organizational staff meetings or reads meeting minutes.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated timeframes.
  • Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication and good working relationships with all patients, staff and vendors.
  • Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time.
  • Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements :

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions).
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete employee health meeting.
  • Education / Licensure / Certification :

  • o Unencumbered RN License - Colorado or Compact State
  • o Current BLS

    o ACLS - required within 1 year

    o PALS and / or ENPC - required within 1 year

    o TNCC - required within 1 year

    o STABLE - required within 1 year

    o NRP - required within 1 year

    Experience :

  • 2 years hospital nursing experience preferred.
  • 1 year Emergency Department or Critical Care Nursing preferred.
  • Position Classification : Non-Exempt

    Compensation Range : $33.53 to $50.29
