Job Description :
Operate machinery required for particular position in a safe and efficient manner, to include training of new and existing operators in the carrying out of their duties.Inspect product for defects and take appropriate action as per work instructions, monitor Quality Technician for consistencyCarry out measurements and weight checksAssemble product as per instructions with a focus on quality and safety.Practice Masonite Lean Manufacturing Techniques including 5S+1Communicate efficiently with other employees and the leadership team in order to ensure quality product is made timelyRead and interpret list counts and complete all departmental paperwork correctly and timelyPerform weekly EHS auditsParticipate in Safety Kaizens and Masonite Plant KaizensHelp create / implement poke yokes for quality issuesRead, understand and follow production schedulesSet up and adjust equipmentGather materials as neededOperate motorized equipment (ie forklift, KVAL lifts, etc) as neededPerform minor preventative maintenance and operator care as requiredAssist Management, Maintenance and Quality personnel when troubleshooting equipment, process or material issuesCommunicate effectively for flow of product through the plantMaintain downtime records and productioninformation as appropriatePerform housekeeping dutiesPerform miscellaneous duties as assignedWear appropriate personal protective equipmentWork safely and follow safety rules and proceduresUse a Tape Measure, CaliperUse push cartsUnderstand door construction buildSlide / push / pull / pick up cull board on to lift tableUse proper hand placement and procedures to assemble doors by laying out skins on cullboardsPlace glued components onto skin properly by aligning components to customer spec and placing a new skin on top to finish doorVisual perception to align door stack and assist in moving the stack onto transfer cartCommunicate door length changes to Layup team to help them determine which LB laser light to useMake adjustments to glue machine based on thickness of materialFeed stiles, lockblocks, rails, and core into glue machine at a pace that matches that of the door buildersRecord times on the 1st and last rail for each stack before feeding it through glue spreaderRecord ticket quantities on tally sheetTrack production / downtime hourlyTrack material adjustments and reject materialsSet break light prior to break time.Knowledge :
Read interpret ticketBasic reading and writing skillsAbility to add and subtract fractions and whole numbers, convert fractions to decimalsProficient at reading / interpreting, quality specs, proper door construction, door types, core types, stile / rail / block types.Skills :
High level of dexterity and skill to assemble doors, perform visual quality checks, and comprehend build construction specs, must work well as a team with Front Man
Responsibility :
Little to no supervision, proper placement of components to match build construction, run from tickets, verify quality / quantity, ensure the backboard is in place prior to assembly of next stack.
Physical Demands :
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bending, twisting, stooping, and standing throughout your shift. Must work at a fast pace and handle multiple parts that have glue on them. Strong eye / hand coordination. Standing for long continuous hours.
Mental Demands :
Attention to detail of build construction and accuracy of material placement. Focus on glue level on materials and hand placements.
Social :
Must work closely with another operator, skin flipper, and pressman as a team
Working Environment :
Mildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions. Mild dust environment.
