Position Overview
Job Summary :
- The Public Health Analyst will support the Population Health team by assisting with data management, literature reviews, documentation, and project coordination. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional interested in applied public health, data analytics, and program evaluation. The position provides hands-on experience contributing to population-level health projects, reports, dashboards, and data-driven deliverables across multiple states.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist in data collection, entry, and basic cleaning using Excel, R, or Power BISupport literature searches, reference management, and APA / AMA-style formattingPrepare figures, tables, and presentation slides for reports and client deliverablesMaintain project documentation, trackers, and version control across shared drivesTake notes during internal and client meetings; assist with scheduling and coordinationConduct basic descriptive data summaries and compile visualizations under supervisionReview and proofread reports for clarity, consistency, and data accuracySupport development of public health communication materials and infographicsRequired Skills and Qualifications
Education : Current student or recent graduate in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Science, Biostatistics, Data Analytics, or a related field (Bachelor's or Master's level)Technical : Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with R, Power BI, or Tableau preferredAnalytic : Basic understanding of data cleaning, descriptive analysis, and data visualizationWriting : Strong attention to detail in writing, proofreading, and APA / AMA formattingAdministrative : Organized, responsive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentSoft Skills : Collaborative, reliable, and eager to learn through mentorship and guided projectsPreferred Qualifications
Coursework or applied experience in epidemiology, health behavior, or data managementFamiliarity with public health datasets (e.g., BRFSS, ACS, CDC WONDER, or Vital Statistics)Prior experience supporting program evaluation or community health projectsStrong written and verbal communication skillsSupervision and Learning Objectives
The analyst will work directly under the Senior Epidemiologist, gaining exposure to real-world data workflows, population health indicators, and prevention frameworks. Learning outcomes include
