Job descriptionPerforms a variety of diagnostic cardiac / vascular exams under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis. Performs a variety of Ultrasound procedures that utilize high frequency sound waves to evaluate internal organs and vessels for the diagnosis of disease. Prepares exam room, obtains informed consent, requests accurate clinical history as necessary for the exam. Reviews patient history and determines proper selection of protocols. Explains method of examination and positions patient. Assesses patient status and needs, completes appropriate diagnostic techniques / tests to ascertain ongoing condition, and performs necessary interventions. Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered. Ensures quality images and coordinates preparation of images / exams and documentation for physician partners. Documents and communicates patient-related information thoroughly and accurately. Informs patient of physician instructions or ancillary caregiver observations or concerns and considers these in providing appropriate care. Meets needs of patient, family, and multi-disciplinary team through effective communication, coordination, and documentation ensuring safety, care, courtesy, and efficiency. Ensures safe and effective handoff between shifts by communicating clearly with oncoming shift. Monitors equipment reliability and safety, reports issues and / or repairs or service due. Orders and stocks supplies, cleans rooms and equipment to maintain work environment. Transports patients as needed. Actively participates in quality initiatives including patient satisfaction, patient care, and workflow. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required. High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred. Required Certifications & Licensure : RDCS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or RCS - Registered Cardiac Sonographer. Regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts on site. No additional required or preferred skills or experience specified.
