Atlantic Health Strategies is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Compliance Specialist with substantial, hands-on expertise in multi-state regulatory research, accreditation readiness, and strategic program development. This role requires a professional who possesses authentic subject-matter depth and the ability to interpret statutes, administrative codes, and payer regulations independently. Candidates must be able to demonstrate real-world experience, not AI-generated or outsourced knowledge.
This is a part-time hourly role with potential to transition into full-time. The position may be structured as 1099 or W2 depending on candidate and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced regulatory research across multiple states for mental health, substance use disorder, psychiatric, and eating disorder programs.
- Interpret federal and state statutes, administrative codes, Medicaid manuals, and commercial payer requirements to develop clear and actionable compliance guidance.
- Support licensure, certification, and accreditation preparation with emphasis on Joint Commission Behavioral Health, CARF, and applicable state licensing authorities.
- Develop operational recommendations that align with CMS, OIG, ASAM, and Medicaid managed care expectations.
- Complete strategic growth and feasibility assessments grounded in regulatory limitations, scope-of-practice requirements, reimbursement structures, and market dynamics.
- Provide compliance expertise for organizational due diligence, risk mitigation, new service line development, and program expansion in outpatient, residential, PHP / IOP, and psychiatric settings.
- Produce high-quality regulatory briefs, compliance memos, crosswalks, and technical summaries with precise citation and clear narrative structure.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on audits, mock surveys, corrective action planning, regulatory filings, and strategic advisory projects.

Requirements
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of behavioral health compliance, regulatory affairs, or healthcare policy experience.Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas :Multi-state licensure and regulatory frameworks across mental health, SUD, psychiatric, and eating disorder service lines
Joint Commission Behavioral Health standards and CARF requirements
Statutory and administrative code research with accurate interpretation
Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payer rules, including reimbursement methodologies
Regulatory feasibility assessments and program development
Prior experience supporting compliance or accreditation efforts for outpatient, residential, PHP / IOP, crisis stabilization, or psychiatric programs.
Exceptional analytical, writing, and documentation skills with the ability to synthesize complex regulations into executive-ready deliverables.
Strong organizational skills, self-direction, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
