JOB TITLE : Testing Coordinator

JOB OBJECTIVES : Position is responsible for administering an array of HIV test technologies available to aid individuals in becoming knowledgeable of their HIV status. CTR Specialist is trained to offer HIV prevention counseling to reduce clients' risk for transmitting or acquiring HIV; linkage and referral for access to appropriate medical, preventive, and psychosocial support services for individuals testing HIV positive, as well as high-risk negative persons. Position requires developing outreach strategies to offer community-based testing activities as well as HIV prevention education, including collecting and entering data.

POSITION STATUS : Part-time

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Must possess an Associate's Degree with one year of experience working in the field of HIV / AIDS with certification for counseling, testing and referrals (can receive certification upon hire).

2. Valid driver's license; Criminal Background Clearance.

3. Successful computer operation training and / or experience

4. Excellent organizational skills, initiative and good task management skills are necessary

5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers,

personnel, clients, and the public

6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

7. Ability to respond to people in a pleasant, courteous manner

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Develop outreach strategies to offer community-based testing activities
• Ensure that CTR is a voluntary service that can only be delivered after informed consent is obtained.
• Provide information and education to the client about HIV and testing,

including :

1. Risk for HIV transmission and how HIV can be prevented

2. Type of HIV test technology available for use

3. Explanation of test result

4. Where to obtain additional information, counseling, or other services (medical, mental health, or substance abuse care, etc)

Provide client-focused HIV prevention counseling to address the client's :

1. Readiness for testing

2. Personal risk assessment

3. Steps taken to reduce risk

4. Goals for reducing risk

5. Realistic plans for achieving those goals

6. Support systems referral needs
