Overview McCloskey Mechanical is seeking a highly skilled Commercial HVAC / R Technician to join our growing Orlando team. We’re looking for an experienced professional with specialized expertise in Commercial Refrigeration Systems, Rack Refrigeration, and Glycol Chiller Systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical diagnostic abilities, troubleshooting expertise, and experience with installation across Commercial, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, and Institutional environments. This position requires a self-motivated, safety-focused technician capable of delivering reliable, high-quality work with minimal supervision.

Core Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair Commercial Refrigeration Systems, Rack Refrigeration, and Glycol Chiller Systems
  • Perform installations, startups, and retrofits of commercial / industrial HVAC and boiler equipment
  • Troubleshoot and service HVAC / R systems including DX systems, chillers, AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, and BMS / BAS controls
  • Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, control wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications
  • Ensure compliance with all local codes, safety regulations, and internal quality standards
  • Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation per company protocols Minimum

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in Commercial, Industrial, or Institutional HVAC / R and boiler service
  • Strong proficiency in combustion analysis, control logic, hydronic system design, and steam principles
  • Valid EPA Certification (Type II or Universal)
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Working knowledge of building automation systems (BAS / BMS) and control integration
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a technical team Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with pharmaceutical-grade clean room HVAC systems and other critical environments
  • Factory training or OEM certifications (e.g., Cleaver-Brooks, Lochinvar, Fulton, etc.)
  • Familiarity with pipefitting, brazing, and electrical diagnostics
