Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical unit night shift position in Illinois requiring an active IL RN license and BLS certification.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 20-bed Medical Acute Care unit within an acute hospital setting
  • General medical patient population with nurse to patient ratios of 1 : 5 / 6 on nights
  • Some patients on telemetry monitored with Phillips equipment, with monitoring handled by central monitor techs
  • 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700) with a schedule of three shifts per week
  • Every other weekend and major holiday (3 out of 6) rotation required
  • Travel RNs are first to float as needed based on hospital staffing requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR system; Epic experience is recommended
  • Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24 / 7; patient care techs support on every shift
  • Primary duties include caring for general medical patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members
  • Orientation includes 12 non-billable hours and a unit-specific orientation
  • No specific dress code or scrub color is required
  • No COVID vaccine requirement for this assignment
  • Preference for applicants with prior general medical or med / surg experience
  • No radius rule applied; local rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Active IL RN license required at time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification required
  • At least 1 year of recent general med / surg RN experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills needed
  • Gen med / surgical experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Drug screen required for all panels before starting assignment
