Description :

The Pharmacy Assistant provides essential support to the pharmacy team in delivering safe, efficient, and accurate pharmaceutical services. Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and / or pharmacy technician, this position performs a variety of clerical, organizational, and customer service tasks to facilitate daily pharmacy operations all in compliance with California State Board of Pharmacy Technician License requirements. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and dedicated to maintaining a clean, compliant, and patient-centered environment.   • Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in daily workflow to ensure timely and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services.
  • Support front-end pharmacy operations, including answering phones, greeting patients, and assisting with prescription drop-off and pickup.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory by unpacking, labeling, and organizing stock; check for damaged or expired items and notify supervising staff of discrepancies.
  • Restock shelves and storage areas to maintain an orderly and accessible inventory system.
  • Retrieve medications and supplies as requested by pharmacists or technicians, ensuring proper handling and storage conditions.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of medication orders, stock receipts, and general pharmacy documentation under supervision.
  • Prepare and maintain daily logs, filing systems, and reports as directed, supporting regulatory and operational compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of non-clinical packaging tasks (e.g., labeling auxiliary supplies) as permitted under supervision.
  • Coordinate prescription delivery and pickup with patients, departments, or courier services, ensuring proper documentation and communication.
  • Clean, disinfect, and organize pharmacy equipment, counters, and shelves to maintain a sanitary and efficient work environment.
  • Monitor and replenish office and pharmacy supplies to ensure continuous operation.
  • Support controlled substance recordkeeping by assisting with documentation and filing under the direction of a pharmacist or technician.
  • Participate in orientation activities for new staff by preparing onboarding materials and assisting with initial training setup.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support for pharmacy-related documentation, including filing, scanning, and updating internal records.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and all applicable privacy laws and regulations to safeguard patient health information and confidentiality in all communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of pharmacy technician licensure and under the direction of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the executive leadership and administration.

Requirements :

  • High School Diploma or education equivalent to completion of the 12th grade required.
  • Some college coursework in pharmacy, healthcare, or a related field preferred.
  • Pharmacy Assistant or Clerk experience in a retail, outpatient, or healthcare setting preferred.
  • No licensure as a Pharmacy Technician required; however, interest in pursuing a Pharmacy Technician license or certification is encouraged.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic pharmaceutical terminology, prescription processing workflow, and medication storage requirements.
  • Experience with inventory management, stock rotation, and maintaining organized pharmacy records preferred.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software systems, point-of-sale systems, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proven ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions, perform basic mathematical calculations, and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong organizational, clerical, and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact courteously and professionally with patients, staff, and providers.
