Assistant General Manager - Historic Restaurant
We’re looking for an Assistant General Manager who can support the stewardship of a New York institution while helping guide it into its next chapter. This landmark restaurant is more than a dining room - it’s an institution. The ideal candidate brings sharp operational skills, sound knowledge of dining room and bar operations, and the leadership presence to back up the GM while motivating a high-energy team.
What You’ll Do :
- Support the GM in overseeing daily service, ensuring the guest experience feels seamless and welcoming.
- Be a visible leader on the floor : approachable, confident, and capable of stepping in wherever needed.
- Oversee bar operations in tandem with the head bartender including ordering, inventory, cost control, and menu rollouts.
- Use systems including Toast, OpenTable, MarginEdge, and Harri to keep service and reporting running smoothly.
- Train, coach, and supervise FOH and bar teams to deliver consistent guest experiences.
- Co-manage scheduling, payroll accuracy, cost controls, and support special events.
- Handle guest and staff concerns with professionalism, stepping in for the GM as needed.
- Stay plugged into NYC dining and nightlife culture, helping the restaurant evolve with the neighborhood.
What You'll Bring :
2+ years in a leadership role (AGM, Bar Manager, Floor Manager, Service Manager) at high-volume / high-profile restaurants.Strong understanding of bar operations : cost tracking, beverage program support, vendor relations, and compliance.Proven ability to lead both FOH teams through busy service while keeping morale high.A guest-facing presence that energizes the room and sells the brand.Familiarity with NYC dining and bar culture, plus the drive to grow into GM-level leadership.Why Us :
