This position is available for hire out of either our Salem, NH or Reno, NV offices and is offered as a hybrid work schedule.
The Crosby Company is a family office responsible for wealth management and preservation for multiple branches and generations of a single family. The Crosby Company and its affiliates provide trust administration, investment, and tax planning and compliance services, among others.
Job Summary :
Reporting to a Senior Tax Director within the Tax Department, this position is one of the primary information and control resources for income tax compliance and planning for the various accounts and relationships managed and / or monitored by the Crosby Company.
POSITION DUTIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Responsible for the income tax preparation and tax planning for various accounts / entities with primary responsibility for trust, individual, corporate, and partnership returns.
- Responsible for US Federal and state income tax reporting, gift tax, and international information reporting.
- Provide guidance to the Finance team and Operations to record transactions properly for accounting and tax purposes.
- Develop / maintain / improve entity specific workpapers dependent upon entity’s asset holdings and filing requirements. This includes but is not limited to monthly breakpoint income allocation, tax basis and market value capital accounts and ownership percentage roll forwards.
- Determine appropriate filings for new, existing, and terminating entities with changing asset holdings.
- Monitor and follow up on expected tax refunds as well as respond to tax notices for the assigned accounts / entities.
- Organize quarterly review of accounts / entities to determine appropriate estimated tax payments and project balance due with extension / return and coordinate with Trust Officers and Admins.
- Participate in cross-functional projects involving tax planning for trusts, beneficiaries, and other related accounts / entities in conjunction with outside counsel, accountants, and internal staff members.
- Advise and assist other members of department staff on various transactions and trust accounting issues.
- Research various tax topics and / or respond to Tax Team or Trust Officer inquiries.
- Stay up to date on changes in tax legislation and regulatory and administrative guidance and apply changes as applicable to accounts / entities.
- Identify and recommend process improvements with a specific eye to improve productivity, efficiency, accuracy, consistency and overall client service.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Master’s Degree in Taxation / CPA or equivalent combination of education and experiencePublic accounting experience at a national or international firmMinimum 5 years related tax experience, with a focus on trusts and individualsSignificant experience with Individual and Trust income tax rules, with Estate and Gift tax rules a plusFamiliarity with US international income tax and information reporting rulesUnderstanding of trust accounting principles and proceduresExcellent spreadsheet skills requiredProficiency with CCH Axcess tax processing programExperience with SurePrep, preferredExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, including cross-functional and collaborative efforts.Ability to communicate complex tax concepts with other tax professionals, clients, and business partners in a clear, understandable, and actionable manner.Ability to work independently and proactively, challenge assumptions, plan ahead and anticipate future needs and requirements, and contribute to the team’s problem-solving efforts.The Crosby Company Of New Hampshire LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
