Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,269 per week in Columbus, OH

Oncology experience preferred but not required. Description : The position involves working in a corrections health unit environment. The unit requires staff to ensure safety in a secure setting. Staff may float to various Medical-Surgical units as needed. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 3 for Progressive Care Units and 1 : 4-5 for Medical-Surgical units. Candidates will be responsible for caring for patients with active oncology diagnoses and treatments, including solid tumors and hematology. Patient admissions may include those for oncology workup and other reasons such as surgical procedures, COPD, sepsis, and pneumonia. Oncology and non-oncology patients will require comprehensive nursing care. The role involves interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring. IV insulin protocols and feeding tube care and management are required. The nurse will administer blood products and manage central lines and PICC lines. Respiratory interventions such as external CPAP / BIPAP and high flow nasal cannula management are necessary. The nurse will assist with patient-controlled analgesia and monitor patients receiving chemotherapy. Interdisciplinary support will be available, including pharmacy, respiratory services, and physical therapy. Staff safety is a priority within this secure unit environment.
