American Traveler is seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services & Short Stay Observation Unit (ED & SOU) with a CO or compact RN license and strong leadership background.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work on-site in a hospital setting overseeing both the Emergency Department and Short Stay Observation Unit
  • Full-time, interim to permanent opportunity
  • Presence and visibility required across all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Role includes both management and hands-on clinical support, stepping into clinical care as needed
  • Variable shift schedule
  • Oversight of daily operations for both the Emergency Department and Short Stay Observation Unit
  • Lead and mentor interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Collaborate closely with medical staff, nursing leadership, and ancillary departments
  • Responsible for budget, staffing, and resource allocation management
  • Drive quality, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Promote a supportive and engaged team culture
  • Occasional direct clinical coverage may be necessary in staffing shortages
  • On-site leadership presence required during all shifts

  • Active CO or compact RN license required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related healthcare field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in emergency services or acute care, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Current ACLS and PALS certifications required
  • Nurse Executive Board Certification (NEBC), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), or equivalent certification preferred
  • Strong clinical, regulatory, and emergency care best practices knowledge
