General Summary : Works in a customer service capacity providing administrative and clerical support to patients and customers in a medical setting. Responsibilities include greeting patients and visitors, checking patients in and out, and obtaining necessary documentation. Verifies and enters demographic information, obtains and verifies insurance authorizations / pre-certification, completes medical record release requests, schedules / confirms patient appointments, enters, reviews, and submits charges for patient procedures and services daily, collects co-payments, and reconciles all daily reports and deposits for accuracy. Provides general office and clerical support to assigned area.

Education Requirements : High School diploma or GED equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Note : Required professional licensure / certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications : Previous insurance verification experience. Cardiology office and testing experience with the ability to understand basic medical terminology. Ability to cross-train with phone scheduling.
