Position Overview :
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Inpatient Medical Coder to join the team of a high-volume academic medical center. This is a remote opportunity to provide essential support to a Level 1 Trauma Center, ensuring accurate and efficient coding of complex inpatient records.

Qualifications :
Education : High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management preferred.Licensure : AHIMA certification as RHIT or RHIA required. CCS certification may be considered with extensive experience.Experience : Minimum of 3 years of recent inpatient coding experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Experience with Labor & Delivery and Newborn coding is preferred.Technical Skills : High proficiency with EPIC EHR and 3M coding software. Must have the ability to provide own secure equipment and VPN access.Soft Skills : Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.Key Responsibilities :
Accurately code inpatient medical records in EPIC and 3M systems.Ensure compliance with DNV, DHHS, NYS DOH, OSHA, HIPAA, and SUNY requirements.Work closely with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) staff for reconciliation.Meet productivity and accuracy benchmarks (minimum 95% accuracy; average 1.5 charts / hour).Respond to queries within one (1) business day.
