Schedule / Hours : Full-time, evening shift, with 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, and call requirements that typically include overnight shifts with a few weekend slots scheduled in an 8-week period.
Major Responsibilities :
Ensure a clean, safe operating area conducive to optimal patient care; utilize sterile techniques in prepping for surgeries.Perform various types of surgical procedures and maintain knowledge of their requirements.Set up and ensure the efficiency of the operating room environment, moving equipment as needed.Assist as a Second Assistant during surgical procedures as needed.Notify staff of any equipment or supply issues promptly.Transport patients and manage the movement of supplies and equipment.Maintain specialty carts, ensuring all items are complete and in working condition.Demonstrate knowledge of patient care principles appropriate to various ages, ensuring compliance with department standards.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 6 months unless otherwise determined by the department leader.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.Experience Required :
No prior experience necessary.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Understanding of aseptic surgical techniques and equipment used in the operating room.Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.Basic proficiency in computer skills.Team members must maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment.Physical capability to lift, carry, push / pull, and perform necessary duties relating to patient care.Exposure to various environmental hazards, requiring the use of protective equipment.Functional sight and hearing are essential.Required to wear masks, gloves, goggles, and gowns during work shifts.This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position.
