Previous travel experience

Experience in Med-Surg, Telemetry, Critical Drips, and Trach Care is required

Familiarity with Peritoneal Dialysis preferred

Strong cardiac background

Description :

Unit has 32 beds with nurse / patient ratios of 1 : 6.

Common patient diagnoses include respiratory conditions and other medical issues.

Patient population includes adults and geriatrics.

Trachs are not vented, and RNs are responsible for trach care.

RNs must be capable of titrating drips, including Heparin, Cardizem, Lasix, Dopamine, and Amiodarone.

Monitor Techs are available 24 / 7, and Charge RNs read strips while RNs review strips each shift.

Charge nurses may have modified patient assignments, typically caring for 2 patients.

Travelers may be asked to fill in the Charge Nurse role and may be cross-trained.

There are nurse aids on the unit, with ratios of 1 : 10 during the day and 1 : 15 at night.

Available RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow O2, and specialty beds.

Shifts typically run from 6 : 45 am to 7 : 15 pm or from 6 : 45 pm to 7 : 15 am.

Scheduling is managed by the director or floor manager, with block scheduling options available.

Weekend requirements include working every other weekend.

Holiday scheduling is rotational and considers staff preferences.

If not needed on the primary unit, floating to other units or the emergency department may be required.

Scrub colors must be solid navy for RNs, with specific guidelines for other staff.

Dress code prohibits embroidery and patterns on scrubs.

Closed-toed shoes are required.

An Initial Skills Checklist will be due 90 days from the start date.
