Responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class guest service : promptly greet guests; respond to questions / concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction; and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases / returns accurately using the POS system; ensure correct changes, provide receipts, and maintain high-quality guest service.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
  • Promote GameStop's guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards loyalty).
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on company policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
  • Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations.
  • Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document feedback in Workday / HR service management system in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • With the Store Manager, ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening / closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities.
  • Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, maintain staffing for optimal guest service, and ensure best-in-class service.
  • Approve payroll, manage paid time off and time edits, and verify compensation for time worked.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
  • Fulfill omni-channel orders daily.
  • Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct safety checks and address concerns with the Store Manager.
  • Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete administrative duties.
  • Perform store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure product representation and organization on the sales floor.
  • Balance daily transaction totals in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits according to guidelines.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate issues to the Store Manager / District Manager.
  • Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls; ensure proper labeling and packing lists.
  • Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per company guidelines.
  • Maintain store records / files in an organized manner; keep manuals up to date.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Open and close procedures compliance.

Qualifications

  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
  • Key Skills and Abilities

  • Provide genuine, individualized assistance to every guest.
  • Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives.
  • Work independently and as part of a team; timely task completion.
  • Attend to performance standards, safety, and respectful workplace norms.
  • Operate the POS system and perform basic math and alphabetizing.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days / week availability.
  • Handle pressure constructively; be a problem solver.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to use good judgment.
  • Able to work alone and stand / move for extended periods; ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform basic physical tasks.
  • Onboarding may include understanding military ranks and insignia (for stores on military bases).

    Compensation and Benefits

    Compensation : $16.75 - $20.75 per hour

    Benefits : Full-time eligibility for incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance; bonuses and / or other incentives may apply.
