Description
Under the supervision of the Medical Office Coordinator, this position performs various duties for Southern Illinois Family Medicine- Carbondale. 1) Maintains patient clinical and billing information over the telephone and as patients present to the clinic 2) Ensures patient data is accurate and up to date 3) Answers patient questions and addresses complaints 4) Utilizing the electronic health record system to schedule appointments and update records.
Examples of Duties
Telephones / Scheduling 95%
1. Answers multi-line phones, makes patient appointments, aids in answering questions, and transfers messages to appropriate person / s according to PCMH guidelines. Takes messages for physicians and enters messages into electronic medical records.
2. Maintains phone log of all calls.
3. Enter patient history forms into our Electronic Health Record
4. Pull Faxes from Zetafax
5. Scan information to Springfield for indexing
6. Schedules same-day, follow-up, and acute appointments
7. Route calls to nurses and physicians as appropriate
8. 0ther duties as assigned
Service 5%
1. Handles patient complaints according to established policies.
2. Provide backup to other clinic business office functions.
Qualifications
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
Work experience comparable to that performed at the Medical Office Assistant level or in other positions of comparable responsibility.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
