Lead Platform Engineer (Network Infrastructure)

Overview

Lead Platform Engineer (Network Infrastructure) at Capital One.

Responsibilities

Network Design & Architecture – Plan and develop network infrastructure based on business needs. Create bill of materials and obtain quotes from vendors. Order and install network circuits.

Installation & Configuration – Set up routers, SD-WAN routers, switches, Out of Band management, and other network equipment.

Maintenance & Optimization – Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network efficiency.

Security Management – Implement security measures to protect against threats.

Support & Troubleshooting – Diagnose and resolve connectivity and performance issues.

Upgrades & Scalability – Keep networks updated with the latest technology and ensure they can scale as the organization grows.

Work with technologies including LANs, WANs, SD-WANs, VPNs, cloud networking, and wireless networks. Automation and scripting are highly desired.

Hardware brands include Cisco, Versa SD-WAN, Lantronix.

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

At least 6 years of experience with build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)

At least 4 years of experience with AWS

At least 2 years of team leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience with Cisco network hardware and software

2+ years of experience in Python or Ansible scripting
