Ohel is seeking an experienced, licensed mental health crisis interventionist to join our innovative, growth oriented and family centered clinical team in our Midwood, Flatbush location. The professional we are seeking is a licensed mental health clinician that is passionate about providing excellence in mental health and substance use disorder treatment to those who need it, including children and adults with high acuity and who experience behavioral health crises. Responsibilities :
- The crisis worker will answer crisis calls directed to Ohel’s crisis line during 3 Full Day (9-530 pm) Shifts and 3 overnight (7 pm – 7 am) and / or Weekend Shifts, comprising a full time schedule.
- Daytime Coverage will entail in office presence to respond to crisis calls, conduct both crisis intervention and crisis planning services, and to conduct both walk-in and scheduled intake sessions.
- Evening / Weekend coverage will be remote and will be on-call coverage. It will entail responding to any crisis calls that may come in, with immediate availability to respond in person to crisis within one hour.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and stabilization, counseling and support to individuals in the community experiencing acute distress and behavioral health crisis.
- Provide screening assessment including of suicide risk and protective factors, safety assessment and safety planning.
- Deliver crisis services via phone crisis line, telehealth and in community based settings.
- Assess need for law enforcement or EMT services in crisis situations.
- Crisis Planning services utilizing proactive response to avert crisis and promote individual’s well-being.
- Participate in a care team devoted to the care and well-being of individuals at high risk for behavioral health crisis.
- Participate in suicide prevention committee devoted to oversight of individuals with suicide risk and promoting prevention best practices.
- Follow up on referrals and linkage to services.
- Develop relationships and partnerships with healthcare providers, hospitals and other community based organizations to enhance the continuum of care, and timely access to services
- Attend required trainings on protocols, practices and evidence based methods.
- Complete all required documentation in a professional and timely manner.
- Conduct both scheduled and walk-in comprehensive intakes for individuals seeking mental health or substance use disorder treatment.
- Conduct initial intake assessments for new clients, including comprehensive psychosocial assessments, mental health screenings and mental status exams, determining medical necessity for treatment and complete all required intake documentation.
- Building great rapport with individuals seeking treatment to thoroughly understand their needs and make appropriate recommendations.
- Trauma-informed approach is critical in engaging clients.

A license or limited permit in the state of NY (MSW, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, MHC, LMFT, MFT, LCAT) is requiredRequirement of 1 year experience working with clients with serious mental illness or substance use disorderLanguage capacity in any of the following languages a plus : Hebrew, Yiddish, Russian, Spanish, Cantonese and Mandarin.Salary $80,000-$90,000
