Position Purpose

The Technical Development Engineer will serve as the onsite Technical Expert in all aspects of Commercial HVAC Equipment and their integrations with Building Automation Systems. They will work to establish and deliver high level technical training designed to upskill current industry professionals who are already competent and knowledgeable in the subject matter at hand. They will also serve as the onsite expert for relevant local and national building codes, best practices regarding energy efficiency on commercial HVAC products, and assist with troubleshooting technical issues on jobsites. Applicants who meet the outlined qualification but are seeking part-time or reduced-hour positions are encouraged to apply.

Pay Range : $115,000 - $125,000 plus potential profit share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high level internal technical training programs designed to upskill already experienced staff and consulting engineers.
  • Participate in weekly webinars and contribute to educational content.
  • Service as technical expert and mentor within the COBE Equipment Sales Division.
  • Act as the onsite expert on relevant local and national building codes and advise BE Sales Staff on relevant codes to facilitate firm compliance.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Technical Teams to Support Project Design and Execution.
  • Provide onsite troubleshooting and expertise support for HVAC Equipment and systems during the initial installation and commissioning phase of equipment life cycle.
  • Conduct high level energy analysis on COBE projects and provide recommendations for efficiency improvements.
  • Follow safety procedures, conduct safety inspections, and promote a culture of safety within the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 25 years of Commercial HVAC Consulting Experience OR a combination of Commercial HVAC Equipment Sales and Commercial HVAC Service Management.
  • Expert Knowledge of Commercial HVAC Equipment, Building Automation, and Energy Systems.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and compliance Requirements.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for engaging with and potentially training internal teams, subcontractors, and occasionally clients.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform a root cause analysis of complex technical issues on jobsites
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude under pressure.

  • This position may involve standing for extended periods and working in tight spaces.
  • This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
  • This position may require climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
