American Traveler is seeking an experienced Burn ICU RN with a California RN license and at least one year of dedicated burn unit experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 7-bed Burn ICU within an acute care hospital setting serving both adult and pediatric patientsAverage daily census is four patients with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 2, treated as an ICUCare for patients with primary burns ranging from ICU level to med surg level, including adults and childrenNight shifts are 12 hours with every other weekend required and coverage for two out of three holidaysMust be able to read and interpret telemetry (Phillips) and care for patients on ventilatorsUses Cerner EMR; prior experience preferredFloating required to PICU, peds ICU, or adult ICU units as neededFloor-specific orientation includes two shifts in burn unit, one in PICU / ICU, and one in pedsProvide comprehensive care and interventions for burn patients across the lifespanCollaborate with burn surgeons, hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy teamsBurn techs may assist with hydrotherapy and dressing changes, but not every shiftNavy blue scrubs requiredWill be first to float as neededMust cover two major holidays out of threeTesting on EKG, sterile technique, and other critical care competencies is required during orientation\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of two years ICU experience required, including at least one year of direct burn unit experiencePICU experience requiredCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS; Advanced Burn Life Support preferredMust successfully pass an EKG interpretation test during orientation and additional critical care tests as assignedAbility to read own telemetry and experience with ventilators requiredTwo professional references required : one supervisor from the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibilityMust provide valid driver's license for consideration\n Benefits\n
