Job Title : Health Information Technician

Location : London, OH

Schedule : Monday – Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 00 PM (No weekends or holidays)

Pay Rate : $17 / hour

Position Overview :

This position operates in a correctional environment and is responsible for compiling, organizing, and maintaining accurate health information records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient in administrative tasks, and capable of working within strict confidentiality and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities :

Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness; organize medical reports for placement in files; review charts to ensure all reports and signatures are present.

Prepare and type health information forms, including charts for new admissions, report requests, and certificates.

Compile and type statistical reports, including daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, and length of stay.

File reports into health information records, record information in logs and files, and retrieve records as needed.

Provide information from health records after verifying appropriateness of the request; coordinate with other departments regarding record procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, scanning, faxing, emailing, scheduling meetings, and conference calls.

Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge of health information technology, JCAH & Medicare / Medicaid regulations, medical terminology, and confidentiality requirements.

Ability to proofread medical reports, recognize missing information, and resolve routine problems.

Skill in using a typewriter, word processor, and calculator.

Minimum Class Qualifications :

3 courses or 9 months of experience in records management.

1 course or 3 months of experience in medical terminology.

1 course or 3 months of experience in typing or equivalent experience.

Certifications Required :

BLS / CPR certification.
