About Us : The City of Burlington's Transportation Department is responsible for overseeing Transportation Planning, Traffic Engineering, Computerized Signals, Traffic Signal Maintenance, Traffic Signs and Marking and Link Transit. What you will do : This position involves performing manual labor to install and replace City signage and markings on roadways and buildings. The employee leads less experienced staff in tasks such as placing barricades for events, installing thermoplastic markings, and operating trucks and hand tools. Responsibilities include installing new metal and fabric signs for traffic control, buildings, and fabricating new signs, including regulatory, warning, and safety signs. The employee also learns basic traffic signal troubleshooting and works an on-call schedule to address field-related signal issues.

Examples of Duties

Signage and Post Maintenance :

• Cleans, straightens, and installs or removes City signage and sign posts
• Removes sight obstructions like tree limbs from intersections
