• , you will attend a
• California POST-certified police academy
• , gaining hands-on training in :
• Laws of arrest, search & seizure
• Crime prevention & community policing
• First aid & emergency response
• Physical conditioning & self-defense
• Firearms and tactical skills

Upon graduation, you’ll be sworn in as a

• Police Officer
• and assume full law enforcement duties.

• Minimum Qualifications
• Required :
• 60 college semester units
• Age 21+ at time of appointment
• Valid California driver’s license with good record
• U.S. work authorization
• Meet POST standards for character, background, physical and psychological fitness
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays

• Submit completed application + supplemental questionnaire
• Take
• POST PELLETB (written exam)
• and
• Physical Abilities Test (PAT)
• Both administered on the same day at no cost (City of Berkeley test dates :
• Oct 19, 2024
• Dec 14, 2024
• Waiver options available :
• Written exam : POST T-score of 43+ within past year
• PAT : POST WSTB certificate (score 325+ within past year)
• Finalists undergo background investigation, Live Scan, and medical / psychological exams
