Amazon MGM Studios is the home for talent, creating and producing Original films and television series for a global audience. Original series premiere exclusively on Prime Video, which is available in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Amazon MGM Studios also produces and acquires Original movies for theatrical release and exclusively for Prime Video.

Our Japan Local Originals team is now seeking an exceptional Senior Creative Executive to focus on Scripted Series and Local Original Movies. This pivotal role involves managing the entire lifecycle of original scripted local productions, from sourcing and development to execution, reporting directly to the Head of JP Local Originals.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in content development, either as a producer or commissioner, with a comprehensive understanding of the domestic scripted TV and film landscape. We're looking for someone with proven creative instincts in selecting, developing, producing, and greenlighting projects, coupled with strong interpersonal skills and established industry relationships. This Tokyo-based position requires a dynamic, outgoing, and self-motivated individual capable of juggling multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.

The successful applicant will oversee numerous projects in various stages of development and production, manage a high volume of submissions, and attend frequent meetings with industry professionals. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Japanese content on a global streaming platform.

Key job responsibilities Identify, assess, and develop high-potential projects aligned with Amazon's content strategy

Cultivate and manage relationships with top-tier producers, writers, directors, and talent in Japan

Drive projects from concept to screen, ensuring premium quality and cost efficiency

Collaborate with global Amazon teams to align local productions with international standards

Represent Amazon MGM Studios at industry events and negotiations

Oversee and mentor junior development executives

Minimum Requirements 7+ years of experience in scripted series and film development in Japan

Proven track record of developing successful TV series or films

Deep understanding of both Japanese and global audience preferences

Bachelor's degree in relevant field; advanced degree a plus

Native or equivalent level Japanese proficiency

Experience working at a premium television network

Extensive network within Japan's entertainment industry

Knowledge of content licensing, production contracts, and Japanese media regulations

Familiarity with streaming platforms and changing viewer habits

Strong project management and team leadership abilities
