Description :
The Diagnostic Sonographer must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of anatomy, patient positioning, and ultrasound imaging equipment.
The technologist must demonstrate thorough knowledge, skill, and understanding of image quality.
Must be able to communicate to patients the nature of the tests and relieve their anxiety.
Must demonstrate an understanding of radiographic positioning, radiographic technique, radiation safety, imaging equipment, infection control, and quality control techniques.
Assists in maintaining a work area free from hazards.
Presents a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians, subordinates, and other members of the department staff.
The Diagnostic Sonographer must perform routine diagnostic imaging studies as needed.
Must vary work schedule.
The patient population served ranges from neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
The Diagnostic Sonographer must provide services to all patients, families, and physicians serving this population.
Applies knowledge to produce high-quality diagnostic images and meets or exceeds department guidelines.
Assumes responsibility for maintaining professional competence through participation in continuing education.
Takes a customer service approach in all interactions with internal and external customers.
Communicates clearly and concisely with all levels of individuals while complying with confidentiality requirements.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served in the assigned practice.
These skills include age-appropriate communication skills, safety needs, patient teaching, and physical / functional growth and development.
Uses imaging equipment, PACS, and EPIC to process and retain images and exam-related information.
