Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and develop structures, subassemblies, and mechanical components of truck and trailer bodies or ambulances using CAD software such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD Inventor.
• Create detailed 3D models of sheet metal parts, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings with appropriate tolerances and material specifications.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses (structural, load, and performance) to validate designs.
• Support production through technical drawings, BOMs, process documentation, and engineering change management.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality departments to ensure design intent is maintained through production.
• Review and improve existing designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and durability.
• Research materials, components, and manufacturing methods for potential implementation in future designs.
• Participate in prototype builds and testing to evaluate design performance and validate design changes.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and customer standards.
• Provide technical support for field issues and product improvement initiatives.
• Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.3-5 years of prior work experience within a manufacturing setting outside of college or internships.Proficiency in Solid Edge and SolidWorks.Knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Experience with Epicor ERP.Ability to responsibly handle confidential information.
• Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong understanding of mechanical design principles, fabrication methods, and structural analysis.Knowledge of materials (steel, aluminum, composites) and their applications in vehicle manufacturing.Understanding of structural adhesives and their uses.Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of High Point, NC.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
