JOB SUMMARY
The Public Works Maintenance Specialist performs various tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of City-owned facilities, right-of-way, property, and equipment to ensure a safe, attractive and functional environment for employees and the general public. This position performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Facility Maintenance (40%)
- Performs general facility maintenance including but not limited to, irrigation system operation / maintenance
- Paints, installs signs and plants, pressure washes, changes light bulbs / fixtures,
- Performs general construction / renovation work such as light electrical and plumbing.
- Installs and / or repairs fencing, loads, hauls equipment, materials, and supplies to and from job sites
- Ensures building safety by implementing preventative measures for environmental concerns to include flooding and wind damage
- Road / Grounds Maintenance (40%)
- Performs general road maintenance outdoors and indoors, year-round in all types of weather conditions
- Maintains and repairs street and sidewalk, performs Temporary Traffic Control (TTC), renovation and minor construction work, repair or replace street signs, pouring concrete, pothole repairs, shoulder repairs
- Performs vegetation control including mowing grass, trimming trees and hedges, edging, and weed eating,
- Equipment Maintenance (20%)
- Maintains equipment and secures equipment to prevent theft or damage
- Mechanical maintenance of City issued equipment
OTHER DUTIES

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diplomaPossess and maintain Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Certification within 6 months of hireA minimum of one (1) year related work experienceA comparable amount of training, education, or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualificationsADDITONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Valid Florida Driver's licenseNational Incident Management System ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System Certification, must obtain within 6 months of hireIS-700 National Incident Management System an Introduction Certification, must obtain within 6 months of hireThe following courses are designed to provide a baseline, as they introduce basic NIMS and ICS concepts and provide the foundation for higher-level Emergency Operations Center- (EOC), MACS-, and ICS-related trainingCOMPETENCIES
