Job descriptionProvide care for surgical and medical overflow patients, including bariatric surgeries, vascular surgeries, urology procedures, general / GI surgeries, orthopedic surgeries, ENT procedures, plastic surgeries, and neurosurgeries. Monitor and manage patients with conditions such as CHF, pneumonia, COVID, COPD, sepsis, cellulitis, GI bleed, and more. Ensure all patients are under remote telemetry monitoring and provide appropriate care. Maintain patient ratios of RN : 1 : 5-6 on night shifts. Perform peripheral IV starts, tube feedings, TPN, trach care, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation. Manage and remove drains (JP, Accordian), conduct dressing changes, and operate wound vacs. Comfort with discontinuing non-tunneled catheters and weaning patients off epidural pumps. Administer Heparin and Insulin drips (no cardiac drips or cardiac push meds). Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurses, RTOT / PT / ST, hospitalists, surgeons, and PAs. Utilize Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems. Potential floating to other units within the scope of practice. 2 days of hospital orientation followed by one 12-hour shift on the unit. Completion of HealthStream / iCare modules prior to patient care. Weekend rotation every other weekend, possible back-to-back weekends. No requests for holidays off. Schedule provided 2 weeks in advance, covering 4-week cycles. Professional scrub attire required (any color). Cell phone use and ear pods are prohibited in patient care areas.

Experience : Minimum of 2 years of Med / Surgical Telemetry experience required
License : Registered Nurse License
Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS), Basic EKG certification (ability to read / interpret cardiac rhythm strips)
Must-Have :
- General post-surgical experience
- Telemetry experience (Cardiac rhythm interpretation)
- Ability to verify / interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Vascular surgical patient care experience
