Senior Actuary (FSA) – Annuity Products, Experience Studies

We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Actuary (FSA) to join our Experience Studies team within the Consumer Markets Division, focusing on Annuity Products. This role will be hybrid on‑site (four days a week in the office) at either our Newport Beach, CA, Omaha, NE, or Toronto, Canada office. Comprehensive relocation assistance is available.

Pay

Base Pay Range : $163,620.00 – $199,980.00 per year

Responsibilities

Prepare and lead experience studies for assumption setting, identifying opportunities to improve data processes using R, Alteryx, or Snowflake.

Lead annuity policyholder behavior studies, present findings to working groups and senior management committees.

Introduce new tools and analytical techniques such as predictive analytics, AI, and machine learning into the development of experience studies.

Provide technical expertise while balancing business complexity with implementation simplicity.

Offer insight into product strategy, particularly around innovative product types and market opportunities, considering assumption sensitivity and financial statement impact.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure assumption approval and successful implementation.

Direct the creation of dashboards that report key insights and emerging trends to senior management; implement process improvements, automation, and efficiencies where applicable.

Collaborate with external consultants to gather industry data for validating assumptions and benchmarking against competitors.

Foster collaboration, manage expectations, and effectively communicate project updates, milestones, and risks.

Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to junior staff.

Qualifications

FSA designation.

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, computer science, data science, mathematics, or related field.

Four or more years of actuarial experience.

Enthusiasm for predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI.

Self‑starter who develops solutions collaboratively with multiple business partners.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively on long‑term projects.

Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.

Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to various audiences, including senior management.

Stand Out

Working knowledge of annuity insurance products or experience studies.

Experience with statistical computing software (e.g., R, Python, SQL).

Experience with large data sets and data visualization tools (e.g., Alteryx, Snowflake, Tableau).

Track record of collaborative development and delivery of analytical applications.
