Responsibilities Work in a hospital-based Medical Surgical Unit (G5) with telemetry monitoring Unit has 44 private and semi-private rooms and cares for adult medical patients excluding primary cardiac cases Common patient diagnoses include stroke, COPD, respiratory illnesses, GI bleed, renal failure, electrolyte imbalance, altered mental status, weakness, and non-operable fractures Telemetry monitoring is standard for patient care on this unit Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1 : 5-6 at night, may vary with acuity and support levels Uses Cerner EMR (experience not required), Alaris, and Pyxis equipment 12-hour night shifts from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM with every other weekend required No call required Floating may be required to any area with Med / Tele patients within or below the RN scope Primary responsibilities include caring for a diverse range of medical patients with telemetry needs and executing complex med / surg nursing duties Support team on the unit includes CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy (peripheral draws), RT, hospitalist, PT / OT / ST (days), and a unit resource RN (0700-1900 as staffing allows) Two days of hospital orientation plus one unit shift provided First-time travelers are welcome to apply Flu vaccination is required during flu season; medical exemptions only are considered with pre-approval Professional attire required; any color scrubs allowed, but must be professional with no crocs with holes, artificial nails, or personal cell phone use except during breaks Parking is free in designated areas Holiday time off is not permitted during assignment Requirements Active ME or Compact RN license required Minimum one year recent experience in Med / Surg Tele specialty Current BLS certification required NIHSS and ACLS certifications preferred Proficiency in reading and interpreting rhythm strips is required Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, heparin drips, and general med / surg skills such as trach care and chest tube management is preferred Candidates must not have worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity Must reside 100 miles south or southwest of the facility to be eligible for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-621981.
