Outside Machinist

We are looking for a skilled Outside Machinist to join our team. You will play a crucial role in repairing the Navy's, focusing on the tear down and replacement of pumps, motors, valves, and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Replace or repair valves, using hand and power tools.
• Be experienced in using gas torches. Cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces.
• Inspect assembled vessels and individual components, such as tubes, fittings, valves, controls, and auxiliary mechanisms, to locate any defects.
• Install manholes, handholes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges, and feedwater connections in drums of water tube boilers, using hand tools.
• Clean pressure vessel equipment, using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents.
• Install refractory brick in fireboxes. Use blueprints to determine locations, positions, or dimensions of parts.

Essential Skills

3 years minimum experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in a shipyard environment is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This position is based in a shipyard environment that is not climate controlled, meaning it can be hot or cold depending on the season. Employees must provide their own steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hard hats.

This is a contract position based out of Norfolk, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
