Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Labor and Delivery Discipline : RN Start Date : 10 / 27 / 2025 Duration : 14 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Torrance Unit : L&D RN (Labor & Delivery) Location : Torrance, CA Unit Overview Volume : 210–240 births / month (~10 births / day) Rooms / Beds : 22 rooms / 21 beds Patient Population : Low and high-risk labor patients (antepartum, hypertensive disorders, diabetes, multiples, complex OB cases) Staffing Ratios : Active labor : 1 : 1 Early labor : Max 1 : 2 Typically follow AWHONN standards Shifts : 12-hour (07 : 00–19 : 30 / 19 : 00–07 : 30) Schedule : Block scheduling; weekend coverage required (varies by contract) Float : Yes – to Postpartum / Mother-Baby Unit (MBU) Call : Required Systems : Pyxis med system, SBAR communication, Electronic charting Required Certifications (hard stops) : BLS, ACLS, NRP AWHONN Advanced (or C-EFM accepted in lieu) Experience : Minimum 3 years L&D RN experience Competency in circulating & recovering C-sections, triage, high-risk deliveries, and postpartum emergencies Must meet AWHONN fetal monitoring competency standards Skills : Fetal monitoring (external, internal, IUPC, recognition of abnormal patterns) OB emergencies (hemorrhage, eclampsia, preeclampsia, VBAC, multiples, uterine rupture) Cesarean section (circulate, scrub, recover) Neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care Magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, prostaglandins, antihypertensives Preferred C-EFM certification (if not already AWHONN Advanced) Preceptor experience (manager notes preceptors adapt better to pace) Experience in Baby-Friendly designated hospitals Teaching hospital background Previous charge RN experience Unit Notes Obstetricians are on-site; anesthesiology & CRNAs available 24 / 7 Travelers expected to float to Postpartum / MBU Unit manages high-risk antepartum & labor patients with multisystem disorders Special procedures include cesarean sections, postpartum D&C, tubal ligation, cervical cerclage Precepting not required but valued Other Information Orientation : ~24 hours (3 shifts) Scrubs : Provided RTO : Pre-approved requests limited (typically 1–2 per contract) First-time Travelers : Not accepted Program Type : Pre-screen required, client offer only About HonorVet Technologies HonorVet Technologies : Pioneering Purpose, Empowering Heroes Founded in 2015, HonorVet Technologies stands as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) , proudly certified by NaVOBA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs .
