Overview
OBJECTIVE : The General Manager is a true business owner for their store. They are responsible for leading, managing and continuously developing all aspects of their store's business. They are accountable for creating and maintaining a positive and highly productive work environment that aligns with the company's mission. They will be responsible for consistently achieving sales & profitability goals, operational objectives, merchandising standards and developing a highly successful Sales, Operations, and Visual team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the brand's retail strategies
- Apply local market knowledge of the clientele base and brand competitors
- Stay aware of business trends related to the store and brand
- Demonstrate strong business acumen through KPI metrics to develop and support business-driving strategies
- Lead the team by leveraging company tools, incentives and strategies to support meeting sales goals
- Ensure the store team embodies ALO's mission and guiding principles to communicate who we are to guests
- Foster growth, accountability and inclusivity through development, performance management, training and coaching
- Conduct ongoing talent analysis and establish career progression plans to retain top talent and reduce turnover
- Establish internal and external pipeline through succession planning and recruitment strategy
- Partner with Operations & Visual Manager to maximize inventory accuracy and ensure replenishment needs are met
- Oversee and support execution of key operational and visual guidelines
- Champion strong visual standards for the sales floor using business performance data
- Support a safe work environment and efficient operation
- Develop schedules that deliver business results while maintaining labor efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support organizational goals
- Serve as an ALO ambassador and foster a culture aligned with our mission
- Navigate the organization balancing business needs with brand culture
- Create and implement effective communication strategies throughout the store to achieve goals and KPIs
General Manager Qualifications
7+ years of retail or related industry leadership experienceWorking knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and writtenMotivated by driving business in a fast-paced, innovative environmentEntrepreneurial mindset with a business owner approachIndependent work ethic, time management skills, and personal accountabilityAligns with and embodies ALO’s Guiding PrinciplesRequires constant movement in and around all areas of the storeAbility to lift, push, carry or move up to 50 poundsAbility to lift, bend, kneel, climb, crawl and / or twist, and safely climb up / down a ladderAbility to stand and move for an entire shiftSchedule
To build a balanced schedule that supports the needs of the business and our teams, full-time employees are expected to have open availability and work variable shifts including peak days and weekends. All employees must be able to work during the company’s Blackout period (Thanksgiving week through early January).

General Managers may participate in the Monthly Store Incentive, potentially increasing total compensation. This range is one component of the total rewards package, which may also include clothing allowance, employee discount, 401K, medical / dental / vision plans, commuter benefits, and ALO Wellness Club.
