Job descriptionWeld assemblies must meet primarily internal standards for product type. Perform machining task including wet sawing, drilling, milling, and sanding of finished weld samples. Must be able to perform dimensional and visual weld inspection of weld assemblies. Accurate recording of weld parameters including amps, volts, and travel speed is required. Perform hardness checks on prepared weld assemblies. Prepares own set up of machine, plate and weld specimens for completion of test. Selects the most effective parameters and technique to be used within the guidelines of the governing internal specification. Works with an engineer to evaluate quality of weld and conformance to requirements for customer sales testing, and research. Notifies supervisor or engineers of electrodes being tested that do not meet the weldability standards of ESAB. Assist supervision in scheduling flow of work and assurance that assignments are completed. Other projects as directed by the Test Lab Supervisor. Adhere to all safe work practices and / or safety policies. Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 2-4 years of job-related experience in welding. Requires excellent skills in all types of welding, knowledge of metals, ability to determine technique and equipment to be used. Must be able to weld MIG, TIG, SAW and stick in all positions as applicable. Experience with Oxy-fuel process Needs to be familiar with our various specifications governing weld metal testing. Good knowledge of mathematics and / or mechanical aptitude. Computer use required.
