POSITION OVERVIEW : The Packaging Machinery Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager is responsible for the design development installation optimization and maintenance of automated packaging systems used in manufacturing operations. This role ensures packaging equipment operates efficiently safely and cost-effectively to meet production and quality goals. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams production maintenance quality and suppliersto deliver innovative packaging solutions and continuous improvements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Installation & Commissioning
- Manage installation setup and validation of packaging lines and automation equipment
- Coordinate with vendors contractors and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery and performance
- Develop and execute FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) protocols
Optimization & Troubleshooting
Analyze machine performance data to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvementImplement process improvements to increase uptime reduce waste and enhance efficiencyTroubleshoot mechanical electrical and control system issuesMaintenance & Reliability
Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for packaging equipmentDevelop maintenance documentation SOPs and training materials for technicians and operatorsSpecify spare parts and manage supplier relationships for critical componentsCompliance & Safety
Ensure all equipment and processes comply with OSHA FDA GMP and other applicable regulationsParticipate in safety audits and risk assessmentsProject Management
Manage capital projects from concept to completion including budgeting and scheduling.Prepare technical documentation equipment specifications and project reports.QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering Mechatronics or related fieldCertified Packaging Professional (CPP) or equivalent preferredSix Sigma Green Belt or similar process improvement certification preferredAt least 4-7 years of experience in packaging machinery design maintenance or process engineering (food beverage pharmaceutical or consumer goods industry preferred)Strong knowledge of packaging automation PLCs sensors pneumatics and motion control systemsProficiency with CAD and 3D modeling softwareFamiliarity with Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and TPM principles is a plusStrong communication and collaboration skillsAttention to detail and commitment to safety and qualityTRAVEL : Travel to equipment vendors or other sites as required (up to 15%)
WORKING ENVIRONMENT : Regular work in a manufacturing setting including exposure to noise temperature variations and food processing environments.
COMPENSATION :
