Job description

Interim Director of Pharmacy

📍 Little Rock, AR

💰 $4,000 per week

🗓️ 13-week contract | Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM | Start Date : ASAP

We’re seeking an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy to lead a high-performing hospital pharmacy team through a transitional period. This role requires a visible, hands-on leader who can quickly build trust, strengthen communication, and bring stability and structure to a department in change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong, approachable leadership to a team of 35 pharmacy professionals (including pharmacists, managers, and technicians).
  • Oversee all inpatient pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficiency.
  • Drive team engagement, accountability, and collaboration through effective communication and coaching.
  • Address performance and workflow challenges with professionalism and urgency.
  • Implement best practices in medication safety and quality improvement.
  • Partner with hospital leadership to assess current operations and support a smooth transition to permanent leadership.

Qualifications

  • Active Arkansas Pharmacist License (required).
  • 7+ years of pharmacy experience , including at least 5 years in a leadership or management role .
  • Proven ability to engage staff, foster accountability, and lead through change.
  • Experience in complex inpatient hospital pharmacy settings.
  • Familiarity with Epic (EMR) and Workday (HR / Finance systems) preferred.
  • Previous experience in interim or turnaround leadership roles is a plus.
